Integrated skills and speak up

Step 1: Warming up

T:Boys and girls , there are so many teachers in our class , we meet them for the first time , how can we greet them ?

S: Nice to meet you , teachers!

T: Good manners.(竖大拇指)

T: We have learned about manners. Can you say something about manners? S: Obey the traffic rules……

T: look at these picture .Say them together.  

S: ……

Play a game:

T:I will read some sentences.

When you hear good manners, please stand up.

When you hear bad manners , please stamp your feet (跺脚).

1. We shouldn’t drop litter everywhere.(站)

2. We needn’t queue for our turn.(跺)

3. We shouldn’t cross the road until the traffic lights are green. (站)

4. We can walk on the grass.(跺)

5. We can push in before others.(跺)

6. We should keep our voice down in the library.(站)

7. British people should say “hello” or “nice to meet you” when they meet someone for the first time.(站)

8. British people greet relatives or close friends with a kiss.(站)

9. British people can talk about subjects like age, weight or money.(跺)

 

Step 2: Lead in :

1. Watch a video

T: Good job.  But to say is one thing, to do is another thing.

   Can everyone obey the rules ? S: Not everyone, I think.

T: Here is an example.Look at this picture. Who is he ? He is Guo Tao. Let’s watch a video about him. Is it right for him to do so? And  What should he do?

S: No. On the bus and in the library he should keep quiet. In the museum he shouldn’t take photos.

T: Most people will obey the rules, but some people won’t obey the rules. How can we tell people what they should do or what they shouldn’t do ?       

We can use pictures like these to tell them. What are these ? they are public signs .

T:Yes, public signs can tell people what they should do or what they shouldn’t do . What are public signs used to do ?

2.New words

T:For example: They are used to help explain things. Look,it says “Must wear safety helmet”“Must wear protective gloves”.(领读explain things, keep sb safe from danger并板书)They are used to help keep us safe from danger. They are used to help warn us not to do sth. (领读 warn sb not to do sth) it also helps to keep us safe from danger.The textbook will tell us some other uses of the public signs soon.

Step3:Presentation

1:show some pictures.

T:Our good friends Amy and Shirley are also learning about some public signs.Together with them. Look, What does it mean?

Picture 1:Don’t take photos means “No photos”......

T:Where can we see these public signs in our life?  S:(随便说)

2:Listen and answer.

T: In the text where can we see these public signs? we have just guessed the missing words. Let’s listen and find out the answers.(放录音) Let’s check the answer.

3:Listen and answer

T: what are public signs? And what are they used for ? Let’s listen to the tape, and find out the answers. While listening, we should catch the key words. (放录音) Let’s check the answer.

4:T:I ask, you answer. What are the characteristics of the public signs?  S: …

T:What are they used to do? S: They are used to help explain things and give us useful information. 

T: How many types of the Usage are there in the text? S: four.

T:What are they ? S: They help us find our way.

They tell us about the places around us.

They keep us safe from danger.

They warn us not to do something.

5:T: Match the pictures with the sentences.

   Picture A and B can help us find our way.

5:T:Shirley is writing a report on public signs according the information on P72. Lets help her complete the report in Part A3 on Page 73.(2分钟,填好后校对,朗读)

6:任务型阅读Read them together and then try to finish the exercise on your paper. Here are three parts :title, conclusion and details. (2分钟,填好后校对)Let’s check the answer.

7:T:Lets learn the skills of it:(任务型阅读)

    Compare the answers with the sentences in the text, what can you find?

    Here are four ways to work out the problems :1、课文中的原词(the original word in this text. 2、同义词替换(Synonyms replace )3、词性替换 (the parts of speech replace  4、表达方式替换 (change the ways of expressions)

Step4:Speak up

T:(close the books)After finishing the report, Mr Zhao ,Amy and Shirley are visiting the art museum . Look !Have you ever seen the pictures. who was the painter ? Picasso . He was a Spanish painter. S:These are famous paintings by Picasso. What happened in the art museum ?  

T: Listen and answer some questions. (放录音)

1.What does Amy want to do? Can she do it?

2. What else does Amy tell Shirley?

T: Listen again and fill in the blanks.

T:Open your books and read it . Boys—Mr Zhao. Girls---Amy. I am Shirley.

Step5:Make a conversation

T: You all did very well. After learning about so many manners, Can you do better in your life? Let’s check it . Work in pairs ,tell your partner what he should do or what he shouldn’t do in public. We can use the conversation on P73 as a model. Here are some public signs ,choose one from them, you can use them when you act out the dialogue. (5分钟)(表演时让学生选用公共标志)

Step6:Conclusion

T:May Day holiday is coming, many people will go on holiday. how should we behave when we are in public?

T: While travelling, we 'd better do things as follows:

1.  No l_________.

2.  No s_________.

3. Don’t  e_____ food in the library.

4. Don’ t shout in the places l_______ hospitals.

5.  We shouldn’t  take photos in the m__________.

Actions speak louder than words.
