Teaching objectives:

1. Learn to get the information about the Palace Museum from the listening text.

2. Develop students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

3. Be able to talk about the plans for a visit.

Designing aims

Step1:  情境

1. Lead in: Show a video about the Palace Museum.

2. Free talk: Have you ever been to the Palace Museum? What do you know about it?

3. Creating a situation: A group of students are visiting Sunshine Town. They want to visit the Palace Museum. If you are a guide, are you willing to show them around the Palace Museum?

播放故宫的录像，使得有学生直观的印象；

简单谈论故宫，激活背景知识；

呈现图片，创设情境：假设你是导游，愿意带领交换生去参观故宫吗？

Step2:  探究

Pre-listening

Task1：To be a guide—look and say

Show the visiting route and teach new words with pictures.

Task2：Go through the poster and answer the question:

What can the exchange students see in the Palace Museum? What can we learn there?

Task2：Read the poster and complete part of the table in A2.

Tip 1:  Get different information each time.  e.g. find out the things to see first and the time second.

Tip 2:  Write one letter or two letters of the word.    

e.g. Cp à Chinese paintings

Step3:  建构 

1. While-listening

Listen to the listening text twice and complete A2, then check the answers.

2. Post-listening

Task1:Help Neil correct the mistakes.

Task2: Group work

Recommend one of the palaces to visitors. The introduction should include things to see, things to do and the recommending reasons.

Possible version: Hello, everyone! I’d like to recommend you to visit ...Palace. First of all,you can...there. Besides, you can...there. This palace... If you like..., don’t miss visiting...Palace.

听录音，获取相关细节,完成表格，获取完整信息;

小组活动，讨论并推选代表推荐其中一个殿，将获取的信息内化并输出，听、说、读、写相结合。

Step4:  应用

1. Free talk: As a guide, what other places in Beijing will you take them to go?

2. Listen and answer.

3. Read the dialogue together.

4. Summary how to make a plan for a visit and present some useful expressions.

5. Pair work: Talk about your visiting plan.

自然过渡话题，进行下一个环节；

带着问题听对话，进行听力能力的训练；

总结出游计划需考虑的方面及有用句型，为学生对话作好铺垫；

学生新编对话，锻炼听说能力，检测输出情况。

Step5:  反馈

1. Summary: When visiting some places, you should also pay attention to your safety；be kind and polite；obey public order.

Step6  Homework

1. Introduce the Palace Museum to your friends or parents.

2. Plan a day out and share it with your friends or parents.
