Ø  Objectives of Transfer English

By the end of the class, students will be able to:

1.     Apply the writing techniques of giving examples and cohesive devices;

2.     Build the confidence in Chinese literate, appreciate a Chinese classical novel titled Journey to the West, and write a book review of it.

Ø  Procedures of Transfer English

Step1: Put forward questions

1)     Lead in: a short introduction about a game named “Black Myth: Wukong”.

2)     Free talk: How can we write a good book review of Journey to the West.

Step 2: Analyze questions

1)     Read the article and complete the chart. (the structure and three qualities of literature)

When Sun Wukong was wrongly expelled by Tang Seng in the "Three - beatings of the White - Bone Demon" episode, I can fully understand Sun Wukong’s grievance for I have been misunderstood by parents and teachers before. The various demons and monsters in "Journey to the West" are extremely imaginative. Sun Wukong has the ability to transform and is very powerful. His appearance and his magic powers, such as his ability to control wind and fire, are full of mystery.

Tang Seng often shows love and compassion, which is a form of positive human nature. For example, when facing demons who have not committed extremely heinous crimes, he tries to persuade them to reform. In the case of the White - Bone Demon's first appearance as a beautiful girl, Tang Seng was reluctant to let Sun Wukong harm her immediately because of his kind - hearted nature. His love is not only for humans but also for all living beings in a sense, which reflects the basic human nature of love and mercy. Sun Wukong hates evil forces deeply. When facing demons that harm people or try to stop their journey to the west, he shows strong hatred. For example, when dealing with the demons in the Lion - Camel Ridge, which are extremely cruel and have devoured many people, Sun Wukong uses all his powers to defeat them. His hatred for these evil beings is a reflection of the basic human nature of abhorring evil and protecting the good.
