1[What] 主题意义和主要内容

This book is about scientific knowledge, focusing on humans vs nature. The book introduces three shapes of houses and their location, natural environment, weather characteristics, materials, functions, advantages and designing purposes. After reading the book, students can think about the topic: How can people adapt to the environment and make their life more convenient?

2[Why] 写作意图

The writer mainly wants to inform readers to learn how to build houses according to the local conditions by introducing the applied environment, functions and advantages of different shapes of houses. Moreover, readers can learn that people should invent and design things according to the actual conditions and the specific environment; people should choose proper ways to solve some problems and make our life more convenient.

3[How] 文体结构和语言修辞

The book is an expository writing, including two parts. Part1: Presenting the general idea of different shapes of houses in the world and the reasons for it. Part2: Introducing three different shapes of houses and their applied environment, functions and advantages separately.

The writer used the simple present tense to introduce three different shapes of houses and their applied environment, functions and advantages. Besides, the writer used simple and vivid language to describe the houses by giving examples, comparing and explaining.

Relevant vocabulary about the topic was also included, such as words for shapes: triangle, dome, ball-shaped, hexagon; words or phrases for functions: strongest shape, safer in a fire, safe from termites, walking etc; words or phrases for functions: hurricane, float on water, fire, flood etc.

 

. Analysis of the students学情分析

节课授课对象年级学生,大部分学生对英语学习热情较高,一部分学生对于英语阅读较感兴趣并形成了自己的一套方法。但由于学业任务较重,学生没有很多时间进行阅读。本节课授课前让学生合理安排时间读完整本书,以便对书本内容有一定了解。本节课授课过程中,对于一些归纳性的及需要思维提升的学习任务,部分基础较薄弱的学生可能会存在困难。
