This is a wildfire
Teaching objects:
Students are able to know some new words and learn about wildfire.
Students are able to cultivate and improve reading ability of skimming and scanning by grasping information such as what helps keep a wildfire burning.
Students are encouraged to do each possible small act to protect our world by knowing the causes and dangers of wildfire. And they should respect the nature and know the importance of living in harmony with our Earth.
Key points: students will be able to get the general idea of the book and say something about wildfire.
Difficult points: Students can put what they learnt into practical use. They can take actions to use fire safely and protect our Earth.
Teaching procedures:
1.Warm up:
1).Lead in: watch a video and ask, what can you see in the video?
Then use the poem in the book to guide students into the title This is a wildfire,and ask students to raise as many questions as they can about the topic.
2).word check: help students get the meaning of new word with the help of pictures
2.Fast reading:
1).Read the passage quickly and get the main idea and type of it.
2)Divide the book into four parts and get the main content of each part

Part 1 Read for the features of wildfire P2-P3
1) invite student to read the poem emotionally then students are required to use simple words to answer what wildfire is.
Part 2 Read for the causes of wildfire P4-P5
1) read the book and answer what can start a wildfire
natural causes: the hot sun, a hot wind, lightning, sparks made by trains
(ask:why can a small spark start a big fire?)
human causes: sometimes people start a wildfire
2) show more information about human causes and ask:how do people start a wildfire?
Part 3 Read for fuel of fire P6-P7
1) read and rush to answer what can help a wildfire burning?
Part 4 Read for dangers of fire P8-P13
1) read and find information in the book ,what does a wildfire bring to the world?
2) show students more pictures to inspire, what does a wildfire bring to the world?

1) read and discuss, what can people do faced to the wildfire?

3.Free talk
Now it is fire season, our school broadcast invites students in our class to make a talk about wildfire and our world. Use the information you know and make it. Then invite several students to show their talk.

Ask students what did they learn from this class? Then make a summary.
Fire is a good servant but a bad master. We should pay attention to fire, or we will get burnt. Besides, we should show out respect to nature and protect the only Earth. Or the animals in fire today are the tomorrow of us.
