(Period 4 Revision and Picture book)

一、 教学内容

复习U6内容,学习绘本《Dining with Dragons

二、 教学目标

        1. 语言能力

1)能熟练说出更多的食物类单词;

2)能自如用句型:What would you like? I’d like…,please. Anything else?进行点餐;

3)能理解绘本故事,并能流利朗读。

2. 思维品质

能在理解的基础上,小组合作,发挥想象,创编故事

3. 文化意识

通过学习,能激发学生形成文明用餐、与人为善、互相尊重的观念和态度。

4. 学习能力

1)能根据故事内容完成思维导图,并根据思维导图复述故事

(2)能根据故事的内容与情感,续编故事。

三、 教学重点

1. 能熟练说出更多的食物类单词;

2. 能自如用句型:What would you like? I’d like…,please. Anything else?进行点餐活  动;

3. 能理解绘本故事,并能流利朗读。

四、教学难点

1.通过学习,能激发学生形成文明用餐、与人为善互相的观念和态度。

2.能根据图片留白内容,发挥想象,丰富人物情感;

3.能根据故事内容完成思维导图,并根据思维导图复述故事。

 

  五、教学过程

Step 1 Revision

1.Review words

Let’s play a game: 20-second non-stop talking to say the food and drinks

   2. Review the sentence patterns

   Chant: What would you like?

3. Review the whole unit

1)In the first lesson, Mike’s family are at a restaurant. What would  they like?

Helen would like some noodles.

  Mike would like a hamburger and a glass of milk.

  Dad would like a sandwich and a cup of coffee.

T: Good. Are they polite at the snack bar?

S: They are polite.

T: Because they often say please and thank you.    

2) In the second lesson, We’re at the snack bar. We learn the different diet in China and Western countries. Chinese people usually eat rice, noodles, Jiaozi, and so on. Western people usually eat cakes, bread, salads and so on. These are different cultures.

3) In the third lesson, Sam and Bobby are at the snack bar. What would they like?

S: Sam would like some fish. Bobby would like an egg.

T: Are they polite at the snack bar?  S: Yes.

T: Are they happy at the snack bar?

S: No.

T: Why?

S: The waiter is not polite.

T: As a waiter he should be polite and kind.

Step 2 Picture book

1. Cover-reading

T: And today, another animal, a dragon wants to eat at a restaurant too.

 Learn: dragon. Drago.

T: What can you see from the cover?

S: I can see three dragons, waiters and waitresses, the name of the book? Dining with Dragons.

Learn: Dining

Ss read the title.

T: What do dragons usually eat? Please guess.

S: They eat animals…

2. Learn P1, P2

Show P1 & Sound. T: Look, dragons usually eat animals. So Dragons usually eat… S: Animals.

Watch about the Dragons.

What do you think of the dragons?  They are fierce.

 

P2: But today Drago wants to eat sth different.

Because today is a special day. Look at the present, today is Drago’s birthday.

T: Boys and girls, if you were Drago, what would you like to eat?

S: …

T : Drago wants to eat some noodles, a pizza, and a sandwich. Where can they eat them?

S: KFC. / At a snack bar.

T: They can eat them at restaurants. This is a restaurant. Learn: restaurant. Ss read it one by one. So Dad and Mum take Drago to restaurants.

3. Scan and say

T: Q: How many restaurants do they go?

Please look through the whole book and try to say. They go to three restaurants.

4. Learn and say

T: First, they go to a drive – Thru. Read: Drive – Thru.

Enjoy a video of Drive-Thru.

When the video is on, T explains the procedure.

T: This is the procedures at a drive-thru: get in line, order meal, cash window.

a. T: They get in line in front of the menu. And Drago and Mum are looking at the menu, what would they like? What are they talking? Please talk with your partners.

 Ss show

b. T: Then, they go to order meal. This is the order box. It says: What would you like? What would they like? Let’s say together: I’d like three hamburgers. They would like three hamburgers.  

c. T: Finally, they go to the cash window.

Learn: suddenly shuts.

The waiters are scared. The dragons can’t have the food.

d. T: Dragons can’t have their food. What a pityLook at Drago, how is he?

S: He’s sad.  

Mum says: We can go to another restaurant. Read: another, another restaurant. We can go to another restaurant. So they fly to the next restaurant.

5. Read and finish

Read the book from P9 to P14 in pairs, and then finish the mind map.  

 

 

   

   

                     

     

 

 

 

 

 

 

Check: 1) T: At the 2nd restaurant, what would they like?

      S: They would like a cup of tea.

T: Look at the waiter, is he scared?  

T: He’s arrogant, maybe he says: We don’t like dragons, You, dragons, are not welcome here.

T: Yes. Drago wants to cry. I can’t eat anything, it’s a bad birthday. This time, mum has an idea. We can book a table. The idea is: book a table

What does book mean: A. 书本  B. 预订  Read: book a table We can book a table.

So Mum calls a restaurant manager.  

    2) At the third restaurant

a. Before meal

They sit in the third restaurant.

 T: Before meal, look at the waiters, how are they? They are …

S: They are scared.

T: Look at the Dragons. They are …

S: They are happy. And then Drago says: (PPT sound) Can I have a glass of juice, please.

Drago is polite.

b. During meal

Learn something about buffet.

Dragons get the food, Ss talk about the food.

c. After meal

T: Drago says: What a lovely meal! Let’s help tidy up.

What do you think of the dragons?  Dragons are helpful.

They eat up all the food. This is a kind of polite.

T: Look at the waiters. They are …

S: Happy.

T: They like the dragon family now.

e. Let’s act

Act the scene of at a buffet

6. Look and say

People like helpful dragons.

The notices are changed. Look, Fly-thru, tables for dragons, dragon size. They are special for dragons. So they are welcome everywhere now. Read together.

7. Let’s think

T: That’s the whole story of dragons. Let’s read the story after the computer softly and try to think: what do you learn from the story? T: What do you get from the story?

S: Boys and girls, please be polite, be gentle, be helpful at any time and everywhere.

Step 3 Homework

1. Retell the story time according to the mind map.

2. A month later, it’s mum’s birthday, the dragon family fly to another restaurant. Make a new dialogue in four.
